We Made It!

Well, breath a big sigh of relief folks! We made it through the first week of school without any major disasters or melt downs! I thought I would spend the first day of school wallowing in the silence of a quiet house but my friend Tara stopped by, then I called my mother, and my sister-in-law called after that and the next thing I knew, it was time to pick up the kids! We came home, changed into our swim suits, and went right down to the pool with Michele, Max, and Zoe. The pool felt wonderful, and a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, when we got home again, I discovered my purse was missing. I was sure I had it when we got to the pool , sure of where I hid it from sight, and sure I locked the van. But there was no alarm sounded and definately no purse. I paniced, drove back to the pool and searched everywhere, but it is gone. Stolen. The only thing I can think is when I closed the hatch in the back it must not have latched all the way so when I pressed the "lock" button on my key remote it didn't actually lock and I didn't notice. I spent the rest of the night and all of the next day cancelling everything, putting fraud alerts on everything, and replacing everything I can. Unfortunately, some things cannot be replaced, among them was my charm bracelet. It had a birthstone charm for Jack and Suzanne, one that was a heart that said "Mother" inside it (the kids gave it to me for Mother's Day) and the letter "C". I guess there wasn't all that much on it (it was a "work in progress"), and I'm sure whoever stole my purse won't appreciate it the way I do, but it was special to me and I'm sad that it's gone now.

The rest of the week went smoothly, Suzanne was excited that she has 3 friends in her class this year that were classmates with her in Kindercare the summer before this past. She has also made 4 NEW friends in Kindergarten. Jack did great, although he didn't take any naps this last week and didn't eat much of his lunch the first couple of days, he acclimated with the class very well and there were no tears about being dropped off at all!

I hope to spend the next week settling into my new quiet days, and accomplishing a lot of stuff I've been unable to complete or have been putting off because of the kids. I'm toying around with the idea of going back to work but there's a lot I want to do around here first so I'm just playing it by ear for now.
