I'm going to write a book!

So, most of you already know, (or maybe you don't) I'm an insomniac and I often find myself lying awake at night pondering life and humanity. Unfortunately, most often, the more sleep deprived I become, the less astute my ideas tend to be. But a couple of weeks ago, on one such night, I had an idea for a childrens' book. After a couple of hours of tumbling it around in my head, I decided the only way I was going to get any sleep was if I got up and wrote my ideas down. So I went down to the living room with a notepad and started writing. Three hours later (now 5:30 AM, and without a wink of sleep) I had a nearly complete book! Of course, under the circumstances, no one could possibly decipher my scrawl and scribblings but me. The next day I added and tweaked a couple of paragraphs then I decided to read it to my kids to see what they thought. Jack, in particular, I thought, would be a good gauge because as he loses interest in a story being read aloud he always begins to wander, or fidget, or "multitask". To my surprise, they both sat and listened to the entire thing! Suzanne was riveted! She actually said it was the best story she ever heard. But keep in mind that Suzanne has a tendency toward drama, and they have both been known to indulge me with flattery. Feeling encouraged, I decided to subject my story upon Jay who also said he liked it. He said it was interesting (even from an adult standpoint) and different from all the other stuff out there. So now I have a new laptop that is super cool and I'm going to actually type out a manuscript! I'll show it to a couple more people who I think can give me a less biased opinion. If it's still well received, then who knows, maybe I'll be contacting a publisher? In any case, I'm excited about this and I have a couple more book ideas too. Truthfully, I have no idea what I'm doing or where this will go, maybe no where. I'll just play it by ear and see what happens.
